Our Story

We don’t sell beds.
We sell vibe.

From one tree house in Arambol to a community spread across India — this is how Mitra happened.

Mitra started with a simple idea: that the best part of travelling isn’t the place — it’s the people you meet there.

In 2019 we opened a small hostel in Arambol with a big tree house. We weren’t trying to build a chain — we just wanted to make a place where strangers became friends. It worked. People came for a night and stayed a week. They came alone and left with a tribe.

A few years on, Mitra is ten properties across Goa, Himachal and Kashmir — plus a growing collection of long-stay homes for the nomads who never want to leave. What hasn’t changed is the thing that started it all: community is the product, and the vibe is everything.

How Mitra works

The values behind the vibe.

Community first

Everything we design — the common areas, the events, the room layouts — is built to make strangers talk to each other. That's the product.

Authentic experiences

We don't curate. We don't manufacture. We create the conditions for real moments — and then get out of the way and let people live them.

Radical welcome

Every guest — regardless of age, nationality, budget, or background — deserves to feel at home on their first night. That's non-negotiable.

Local roots

Each Mitra property is embedded in its location. We hire local, support local businesses, and take the local pulse seriously in everything we do.

Honest value

We don't cut corners. Clean rooms, reliable WiFi, good food, and staff who actually care — at a price that doesn't require a trust fund.

Always improving

We read every review. We listen to every guest. Every Mitra property today is better than it was six months ago — and the next six will be better still.
